SHALOM Denver connects job seekers with intellectual and developmental disabilities to individual or small group employment opportunities based on their preferences and skill sets.
Individualized supported employment services include job development, job placement, and job coaching. Job development includes assistance with résumés, job search, applications, interviews, communication with hiring managers, and general job searching logistics. Job development also involves SHALOM Denver's Supported Employment team working behind-the-scenes to build strong partnerships with Denver metro area employers to increase the speed and likelihood of an offer to the job seeker. Once a job seeker accepts a job offer, s/he will be paired with a job coach. Job coaching involves support through orientation and onboarding, as well as long-term support.
Small group employment consists of 6-8 eager individuals placed in a business within the Denver metro area. Individuals working at a work site make minimum wage in an inclusive business, participating in the culture and workplace events. Individuals will be supervised during working hours by a SHALOM staff member, which makes this the ideal placement for those who are ready and willing to work but need additional supports throughout the day.
